About BIHER Chennai

Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), Tamil Nadu, the first self-financing Engineering College was established by renowned academic visionary Dr.S.Jagathrakshakan under Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust in the year 1984.

The trust then established Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital in 1989 which was recognized as a Deemed to be University by MHRD in July 2002, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 under a new trust Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) which was established in 1995.

In January 2003, BIST was brought under the ambit of BIHER. Later, Sree Balaji College of Nursing, Sree Balaji College of Physiotherapy, Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SLIMS) were brought under the ambit of BIHER.

BIHER provides high-quality education, multi-stream and multi-cultural to nearly 10000 students around the globe. The university is spread over a wide area of 305 acres of land with 1.3 crore sq.ft buildings located in 6 campuses both in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with the best infrastructure facilities and well-qualified faculty. The university offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs in multiple streams.
